Ching Shih took command of one of the most powerful pirate fleets in all of China, robbing towns and markets wherever she went. Whilst I don’t encourage this sort of looting, here’s a dress that says I’m a woman who is strong and in control.
Materials: The outfit is actually two separate pieces. The black shirt is made from 97% cotton, 3% spandex with an added silk ruffle on the collar and a removable silk sash and zips up the front. The skirt is pure slub silk in dusky gold and has an elasticated waist.
Ideas: Wear with swagger and a sword for a full pirate costume. For everyday wear, split the outfit and wear the shirt with jeans, or the skirt with a simple vest and you will look stylish and unique. Or wear together to an elegant party, re-enactment or historical fancy dress.
